Which is the Best SodaStream Model?

January 22, 2011 – If you drink a lot of soda pop or any carbonated beverages, then you might just want to look into buying a SodaStream home soda maker. This device easily carbonates water to just the perfect level and depending on what flavorings you add, you can make anything from your own tonic or seltzer water to your favorite soda pop. You can even get crazy with it concocting your own personal sodas by modifying easy recipes found on the internet. The Sodastream offers all these opportunities in four different models, so which one is the best?

While this question is highly subjective if you plan to buy SodaStream soda makers, you can use the following as a guide:

Fountain Jet – The Fountain Jet is SodaStream’s first and oldest model. It uses both the large CO2 container (which is being phased out) as well as the smaller one. Made of mostly plastic, this model isn’t super sturdy but it’s the intro/economical model that doesn’t cost a whole lot, so you can’t expect much.

Genesis – The Genesis is the next model up and it utilizes an open design that helps to get the PET bottle lined up better. With the Fountain Jet it can be tricky because it’s enclosed; the Genesis doesn’t have that problem.

Pure – The Pure is the next model and it has a stronger more robust build. This model isn’t nearly as portable but it looks a little better, like it should be in the kitchen with other appliances (and not like a cheap toy).

Penguin – Finally there is the Penguin. This is their signature model that can be seen everywhere. Many people prefer this model because it is way easier to use, simply insert the glass bottle into the device which self-aligns and it uses a glass bottle which holds the carbonation infinitely (well, almost infinitely).

Whether you are looking for a cheap SodaStream model or the best, the best piece of advice I can give is to get a starter kit because then you don’t have to scramble or wait for everything to come together.
