What Kind of Chandelier is the Best for my Bedroom

December 20th, 2010 — 3:19pm

When it comes to chandeliers it is more a matter of personal taste than anything else that should influence your buying decisions. Your bedroom is a place where only you or your closest friends or relatives are allowed in so having something that suits your nature and your style is more important.

Many people like to go with a chandelier for their bedroom because of two reasons; one is simply the amount of choice that you have in them and the other is that you can get one of the size that is correct for your room. There are probably more designs for chandeliers than for any other lighting system and if you are not able to find what you are looking for it just means that you have not been looking hard enough. In fact there are makers who will even custom make one for you if you are really particular.

For most average sized bedrooms a three arm bedroom chandelier is more than sufficient. You are not interested in having a really bright environment and a three arm one is more than sufficient for most purposes. Also get one in the color of your choice, but go a little on the softer side. For example if you like amber, you get chandeliers in this color but in varying shades. If therefore you get something that is really pale it will give you both what you want while not making it look too overpowering.

After choosing a chandelier of your choice it may be a good idea to install a dimmer switch for your chandelier. Even if you are going for the three arm one that is not too bright in the first place, there may be times when you will want it at normal brightness while there may be other times when you will want it much dimmer. A simple switch will do this for you and it is not too complicated to install either.

Finally try to go in for a contrasting colored chandelier to the rest of the room or stick to white. This is because your bedroom will have a lot of color and you do not want one that will be unnoticeable in the room. If you have a room that is designed with a pink color scheme, you could go with a pale red or amber one to give it sufficient contrast. As long as you do not get a really overpowering color it will only enhance the look of the room.
