February 15, 2011 – A surprising wedding trend is using peacock feathers in several creative ways. You can even have a peacock feather theme and use the gorgeous feathers throughout your venue decorations and your wedding party’s clothing. Peacocks have some of the most gorgeous colors that work well for weddings including teal blue, green, purple, indigo, and gold.
Many brides place peacock feathers in the wedding flowers. The feathers actually mix very well with flowers. You can cut the colorful eyes of the feathers into the flowers in the bride’s bouquet or in those of the bridesmaids. Another beautiful look is to have long plumes shooting out from the center of the bouquet and flowing down. The look is unique and unusual, no matter how you arrange the feathers. There are some flowers that work especially well with peacock feathers. Among these are purple calla lilies, purple orchids, hydrangeas in blue, green, or purple, or purple roses. You can complete the exquisite look by adding a ribbon in one of the peacock feather’s colors to the bouquet to match in the look.
If you are looking for a dramatic look for your wedding, why not carry a bouquet of peacock feathers down the aisle? A large gold bow tied around the feathers would look very elegant. You can also make peacock wedding centerpieces. Simply buy tall plumes that will flow out of thin vases for each table. This creates a very simple yet elegant and unique wedding centerpiece. Feathers are romantic because of their flow and movement, so they are perfect for a wedding, no matter how you use them to decorate. Another idea for centerpieces is to mix some peacock feathers in with the floral arrangements for an interesting look.
You can continue your peacock wedding theme in many other ways as well. It is almost impossible to use the feathers too much because of their natural and multi-colored look. Why not use the feather colors in your table linens at your reception? Mix blues and greens with purples and golds for a dramatic look. Also, you can hang organza fabric that is gathered into thin strips from the ceilings of your reception hall like streamers for a festive look. Of course, the streamers have to be in peacock colors!
