Interviews Made Easy

September 8, 2011 – In hiring someone for a particular job in a company, he/she always goes through an interview process that plays a major part in deciding whether or not the interviewee is fit for the position. As an interviewer, it is essential that you prepare questions to ask at an interview.

These questions must tell you a) if the person has the skills that fit the job, b) his/her judgment and decision-making skills and c) their ability to work with a team. In conducting an interview, it is only fitting that you establish the rapport early on. Start off by asking a random question, a neutral one just to establish a light mood and to make the interviewee comfortable and at ease.

By doing so, he/she will not be so nervous and you can expect to get more straightforward and honest answers. Doing job interviews are just like career coaching. Coaching refers to the practice of guiding or supporting an individual into achieving a personal or professional goal. The methods of coaching include asking the client questions and challenging them into reaching their goals. This must be done in a structured style to get the desired results.

Same is true in doing a job interview. The interviewer must ask the questions in a manner that will help him acquire the information he/she wants. On the flipside, it is also essential for the one being interviewed that they also ask quality questions towards the one doing the interview. This may be the one factor that will separate you from competition. It impresses the hiring manager if you make conversation and ask questions about things related to the job that you have knowledge about. Just make sure to not let your nerves rule you over. By the moment you let it, you’ll find yourself stammering to the questions being thrown at you which may not be a desirable situation for you.
